Thumb Sucking

Joey has been sucking his thumb since he was 3 month old. This spring I started try new way to get him to stop. I have tried the nasty tasting stuff you paint on you child's thumb, simply telling him no and taking the thumb out of his mouth and telling him big boys do not suck their thumbs. None of these thing work finally I took my friends Megan's advice and painted my son's finger nail bright red. So far so good. He hates it and he had tried washing his hands and grabbing baby wipes to try to get it off. He keep following me around telling me "it's not fair" and "you're mean mommy". Even though this make me feel horrible it is best for him his thumb is already pushing his teeth out. It is a little pathetic but a little funny he is really upset.

Girls Night In

A group of my girlfriends and I started a girls night in once a month where we rotate houses. We have had 3 so far each of them have different themes. This on was at my cousin's Mary's house and it was a necklace party. Only Magan and I made necklaces but it was a fun night with good food and fabulous friends.

Texas Vacation

We wanted to do a nice family vacation this year so we went to Texas. Dan's sister lives down there so we thought it would be fun to also stop by and see her and see her big beautiful house. We first went to Galveston to stay on the beach for a few days. It was very nice you can tell it is made for families to go to not a lot of partying. We checked into the Commodore Hotel, it had some good points and bad. The good was all rooms faced the ocean, it was right across the street from the beach and it had a pool. The bad was it was not taken care of it was livable. We had a blast in the ocean Joey was not afraid at all. Some of the waves went over his head he just laughed. In the pool he was Mr Independent and wanted us to stay an arms length away( we did not of course) We went on a Duck tour one day it was a bus that went in and out of water it was really cool. We also ate at this restaurant recommended by one of my friends The Rain Forest Cafe. That was one of the neatest places, you walk in and you are under a canopy of trees. They have fake animals that move every 5 min, water falls and fish tanks it also had a fake thunder storm every 30 min.. We ordered this desserts that was called a volcano it was a mound of ice cream and brownies topped off with a sparkler. It was had a 5 min boat ride. In all we stayed at Galveston for 3 days. On our way out of town we stopped at a aquarium in Huston. We decide to do this instead of Sea World because it was small and Sea World is very expensive. This place was cool you walked though at least 20 different kinds of tanks all sort of fish. At the end of the tanks they had a white tiger she was beautiful. They also had a train that took you in a aquarium tunnel and you were surrounded by sharks it was so cool. They had a carousel and a few other things. We ate there surrounded by fish it was sort of weird to eat fish. Then we headed to Annie and Sean's house in San Antonio. They were at work when we got there so we headed down to the river walk. We did the boat ride and walked around for a little while then head back to there house. Sean and Annie made a awesome meal for us and we enjoyed watching Dan and Sean play the Wii. The next day we went back to the river walk and the Alamo. That night Annie and Sean treated us to dinner at Magic Time Machine restaurant it was neat the staff dresses up as different caricatures we had Minnie mouse and I got a picture of Jack sparrow. In all we had an awesome trip we ended it a little early but we were exhausted.

All dressed up and no where to go

I watched Markie the other day for Magen and Jayson. Joey and him play very well together for being so young. Anyways I was watching Markie, they were back in Joey's room having a grand old time. The next thing I knew Markie came out of Joey's room in sun glasses, boots, necklaces and a diaper. I started laughing not to be out done Joey then but his boots, sunglasses and necklaces on. They stayed dressed up for about 30 min or so I was cracking up laughing.

Swim Lessons

We put Joey in swim lessons this year. I almost backed out until I saw him jumping off our ladder and being Mr Independent in our pool. They did all the normal swim lesson stuff but I was really impressed they got him to go under water. He loved it.

Lake of the Ozarks

We went to the lake with my cousins. My Aunt and Uncle own a house down there it is very nice. Saturday when we got there it was rainy and a little cool for July but it was nice to relax. Sunday we were all out on the water by 10 am. I was a littler nervous about Joey and the water but he did great he did not even complain when he had to put a life jacket on. We took a few boat rides which Joey love and he even got to ride the water bikes. We did however lose one of his favorite hats on the boat it flew off. We told him that the fishies are now wearing it. We came home Monday mourning although we were ready to come home it was a great weekend. Thanks Jayson, Megan & Markie.
